Soprano Christina Speaks is a native of Washington, DC. She began singing at the age of 2. Her formal voice training began at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and she has received her B.A. in Vocal Performance from Shepherd College (now Shepherd University).
She has performed and toured with several groups in the Washington area: The Choral Arts Society of Washington; the Washington Revels Christmas Revels; and the Washington Revel’s Heritage Voices and Jubilee Voices; and the NEWorks Martin Luther King Memorial Dedication Choir and the March on Washington 50th Anniversary Choir. Her voice can be heard on several CDs from these groups. Most recently, she is a featured soloist on The Washington Revels CD Hard Times Come Again No More.
She can be found singing in and around the Washington, DC area. Currently, she is a member and soloist of the St. Martin of Tours’ Traditional Choir as well as the cantor for the 9am Mass on Sundays. This is her favorite place to sing and where she is affectionately known as Songbird.
